Daisy Mae Jones

, 87, a resident of Rosewood Care Center in Galesburg, formerly of Canton, IL and Stockton, MO died at 8:40 am Saturday, July 1, 2006 at the Rosewood Care Center. She was born on February 7, 1919 in Cedar County, MO to Lee and Minnie Mae (Davis) Greer. She married John E. Jones on June 26, 1937. He preceded her in death on March 4, 1981. Surviving are two sons, Charles (and Sherry) Jones of Yates City, IL and Greg (and Diane) Jones of Abingdon, IL; 2 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 3 step-grandchildren; 8 step great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents and nine brothers and two sisters. She worked throughout her life helping her husband and supporting her family. She especially enjoyed her years working at the school cafeteria in Stockton, MO while her sons were in school there and at Teters Floral Products in Bolivar, MO. In more recent years, she worked in the housekeeping department at Graham Hospital in Canton, IL. She enjoyed playing the organ, gardening and painting. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Canton and was a former member of the Stockton Christian Church. She was a member and past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star. Graveside service will be at 10:30 am Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at Lindley Prairie Cemetery near Fair Play, MO. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 pm Monday, July 3, 2006 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, 215 W. Elm St. Canton, IL 61520.
