67, of 1595 90th Ave., died Saturday morning, March 14, 2009 at his home. Dale was born on July 14, 1941 in Galesburg to Edward and Ada Letha (Sorrells) Larson. He married Julia Kay Hurelbrink on June 27, 1976 in Knoxville. She preceded him in death on April 13, 1998. He was also preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his children, Joshua Larson of RR Berwick, Jeremiah (and Heather) Larson of Rapatee, Johanna Larson of Abingdon and Jillian Larson of Abingdon; a granddaughter, Julianna Larson-Turner, and a brother, Gale Larson of RR St. Augustine. Dale was a lifetime resident of the area. He graduated as Valedictorian of the Class of 1959 at Avon High School. He attended Monmouth College on a scholarship. He served for six years in the National Guard, 123rd Field Artillery of Macomb, IL. He was a farmer, had worked at Neff Company in Avon for several years, had worked at the Abingdon Pottery, and was an oil geologist. He was a non-denominational Christian. He was an avid participant of Civil War re-enactments and was interested very much in history, he was also an antique collector, and he was a beekeeper. Graveside service will be held at noon Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at the Meridian Cemetery in Warren County. Pastor David Smallegan will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 am Wednesday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel.
