73, of 405 W. Lower St. died at 8:15 pm Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at the Care Center of Abingdon. Darlene was born on February 13, 1934 in Fulton County, IL to Lessie Lee and Maudie Pansy (Postin) Johnson. She married Lehman "Jack" Rice on October 17, 1955 in Pocahontas, Arkansas. He survives. Also surviving are her brothers, Frank Johnson of Abingdon, Carl (Nettie) Johnson of Abingdon, Emil Johnson, Sr. of RR St. Augustine, Lloyd (and Betty) Johnson of Gladstone, Wayne (and Lynn) Johnson of Burns, OR , Jim Johnson of Avon, and Ronald (and Theresa) Johnson of Avon; her sisters, Carol Ashby of Abingdon and Maudie (and Luther) Riley of Abingdon, and Florence (and Tom) White of Milan; several nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Les, Thomas and Robert and a sister, Dolly. She Lived in Abingdon most of her life. She worked at Blue Bell Manufacturing in Abingdon and later at Knox Laundry. She was a homemaker and a very good cook. She was a member of the Abingdon Apostolic Harvest House. Darlene's funeral will be at 11:00 am Saturday, December 22, 2007 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Rev. Danny E. Hunt will officiate. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Saturday at the chapel. Memorials may be made to Abingdon Apostolic Harvest House.
