41 of Galesburg and formerly of Abingdon and Avon, died at 10:50 pm Thursday, December 6, 2007 at the home of a friend near Alexis. He was born on June 12, 1966 at Cottage Hospital in Galesburg to Billy F. and Jean I. Tingley Stranger. Darrell is survived by his mother and stepfather, Jean and Robby Robison of Abingdon; a son, Dallas Stranger of Avon, IL; two brothers, David (and life partner, Ron Bunch) Stranger of Galesburg and Danny (and Nicki) Stranger of Abingdon; a sister, Melody Stromson of Abingdon; six nieces and two nephews; a significant other Shari Bailey of Galesburg. He was preceded in death by his father. He grew up in Abingdon and graduated from Abingdon High School in 1984. He later moved to Avon and moved to Galesburg in 2004. He worked at Puritan Churchill Industries in Galesburg beginning in 1991 and after it closed he began working for Midstate Manufacturing in Galesburg where he was a supervisor. He was active as a coach in JFL football, basketball, baseball. He also coached at AVCOM Park in Avon, girls softball coach in Abingdon. He also worked as a baseball umpire. He was an avid golfer. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 pm Monday at the chapel. Memorials may be made to JFL Football League, Abingdon Banty League or to AVCOM Park Bleacher Fund.
