Dorothy L. Johnson

89 of Abingdon died at 10:35 pm Sunday, April 20, 2008 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital. She was born on March 2, 1919 near Oneida in Knox County, IL, the daughter of Fred and Judith Norberg Nelson. She graduated from Altona High School with the class of 1936. She married Arnold Johnson on September 3, 1937. He preceded her in death on February 12, 1990. Also preceding her in death were her parents, three sisters and three brothers. Before retiring, she was employed by Nelson Vending Company in Galesburg, IL. She had lived in Abingdon since 1984 and prior to that in Galesburg. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Galesburg. Surviving is a daughter, Carol (and John) Emerick of Abingdon, three grandchildren, Shelly (and Scot) Lehmann of Japan, John (and Jen) Emerick of Macomb, IL and Jeff (and Julie) Emerick of RR Abingdon; 7 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 10:00 am Friday, April 25, 2008 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Rev. Dr. Tom Larsen will officiate. Burial will be in Oneida Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Thursday at the chapel. Memorials may be made to VNA-Community Service (Voluntary Network for Aging) or Trinity Lutheran Church.
