Duane E. "Dewey" Watkins

79, of 33574 N. Coal Creek Road died at 6:30 pm Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at Seminary Manor in Galesburg. He was born on March 8, 1930 near London Mills, a son of Herschel D. and Jennie (Brown) Watkins. He married Carrol L. Ray on November 11, 1949 in Galesburg. She survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Jeralyn (and Lou) Ohler of Oquawka, Linda (and Scot) Hulet of RR Galesburg, Nancy (and Bob) Kidwell of London Mills and Jill (and Stu) Barden of Peoria; 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Junier "Fuzz" (and Lena) Watkins of London Mills; a sister, Rosalie Moore of Galesburg. Duane retired from Butler Manufacturing in Galesburg. He also farmed and did accounting and income taxes from his home for many years. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm Friday, June 26, 2009 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel followed by a graveside service at the Abingdon Cemetery.
