Edward McDonald Obituary

53 of Abingdon died at 9:15 pm Saturday, May 10, 2008 at his home. He was born on February 14, 1955 in St. Francis Hospital in McDonough County, IL to J.C. and Thelma Boyd McDonald. He married Patricia Poland on April 11, 1981 at the Abingdon Christian Church. She survives. Ed is also survived by his father, J.C. McDonald of Avon, IL; his brothers, Jerry (and Pauline) McDonald of Bushnell, IL and Jeff (and Robin) McDonald of Springfield, IL; his sisters, Patty Hallam of Nevada, MO, Debbie (and John) Kenney of Bardolph, IL and Jane (and Ray) Garrett of Bushnell, IL. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Mother. Ed attended Bushnell Prairie City schools and graduated in 1973. He volunteered as a Prairie City Little League coach from 1972 until 1975 and as a Big Brother. He enjoyed the outdoors, mushroom hunting, fishing, hunting and gardening. He loved to cook and make pies. He also loved his animals. He was an avid Chicago Bears football fan. Ed worked at the Abingdon Pottery, Farmland Foods in Monmouth and Derby packaging in Galesburg. Graveside service will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at the Abingdon Cemetery. Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Memorials may be made to Guardian Angels Humane Society.
