Effie J. Gordon

age 98 of 801 W. Martin, Abingdon, IL died at 9:50 PM Saturday March 29, 2008 at the Care Center of Abingdon. She was born February 2, 1910 in Monmouth, IL the daughter of David G. and Effie R. Brooks Lewis. She married Chester B. Gordon on October 2, 1928 in Monmouth. He preceded her in death on December 5, 1996. She is survived by three grandsons, Dan Gordon of Galesburg, and David Gordon and Donald Gordon, both of Abingdon, three great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. She worked as a psychiatric aid at the Galesburg Mental Health Center for 20 years, retiring in July of 1974. She was a member of the Congregational Church in Abingdon. Graveside services will be 1 PM Wednesday April 2, 2008 at Berwick Cemetery, Berwick, IL with Rev. Jon Prain officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Peoria, IL. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
