Elfriede Maria Goodman

72 of 104 N. Monroe St. died at 9:50 am Monday, January 16, 2006 at her home. She was born on January 9, 1934 in Kassel, Germany to Friedrich and Marie Elisabeth Rose Johannes. She married Kenneth Goodman on January 29, 1960 in Germany. He preceded her in death on February 27, 1983. Surviving are two sons, Bob (and Misha) Johannes of Waynesboro, TN and Verne (and Brenda) Goodman of Monmouth; one brother, Fritz Johannes of Germany; one sister, Martha Royall of Dunedin, FL; two grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother. She grew up in Germany and moved to the United States in 1960. She had lived most her adult life in Abingdon and worked at the former Abingdon Pottery for several years. Graveside service will be at 11:00 am Thursday at the Abingdon Cemetery. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 10:45 am Thursday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Memorials may be made to the family.
