74, of 208 E. Sanitary Rd. in Abingdon, died at 9:20 pm Monday, May 12, 2003 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born February 1, 1929 in Oquawka, Il. to Sidney and Mamie Culwell Nutt. He married Betty Johnson on January 10, 1948 in Abingdon. He later married Eileen Sampson Fairbank in 1964 in Cuba, Il. . She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Charlie Nutt of Rural Galesburg and Dean Fairbank of Abingdon; six daughters, Donna (and Mike) Hale of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Ginger Wessels of Galesburg, Sharon Stone, Sheila (and Gale) Still, and Annalee Nutt all of Abingdon, and Claudia (and Jim) Martin of Metamora, Il.; one sister, Edna Johnson of Texas; 17 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Leon Nutt and one sister, Anna Ruth Ulm. He had live in Abingdon most of his life and worked at the former Brass Factory, 22 years at the former Abingdon Pottery and was a mason and owned and operated Elmer Nutt Masonry. He also played guitar for numerous local country bands. He retired in 1998 from working and his music. He was a member of Abingdon United Methodist Church. He was also licensed by the State of Illinois to raise raccoons. Services will be at 11:00 am Thursday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon with Rev. Ted A. Hartley officiating. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00 é
