64, of RR St. Augustine, died at 3:01 am Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital. He was born on August 19, 1939 in Monmouth, IL to John Nooton and Thelma Maxine McGee Thurman. He married Patricia Jane Wall on March 2, 1961 in Galesburg. She survives. Also surviving are four sons, Ernest L. Thurman, Jr. of TX and Larry Thurman of RR St. Augustine, Darrell Thurman & Ronne Thurman at home; three daughters, Susie Gray of Galesburg and Sharon Thurman and Annie Thurman at home; three brothers, David (and Shirley) Thurman of Prospect, VA, Roger (and Linda) Thurman of Galesburg and Loren (and Betty) Wheeler of Yates City; seven sisters, Mildred Boulton and Alice (and Charlie) Roaming both in TX, Leona (and Ronnie) Wallace of LA, Linda (and Ray) Boyd of FL, Ruth (and Dean) Kelso of Maquon, Nadine Loser of TN and Charlotte (and Ed) Gaines of RR Galesburg; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. He attended schools in Williamsfield and later graduated from Yates City High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps. He worked at the former CB & Q Tie Plant near Galesburg and later was an Iron worker for Union Local #112 out of Peoria. He also owned and operated Thurmans Pump Service. Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Sunday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon with Rev. Mike Barr officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 3:00 pm Saturday at the chapel. Cremation will follow the services. Memorials may be made to an education fund for his children in care of the Abingdon Banking Center.
