Evalyn E. Shepherd

90, a resident of the Kensington and formerly of Abingdon died at 10:10 pm Thursday, July 3, 2008 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg. She was born on May 26, 1918 in Pekin, IL to Jesse and Ida Andresen Evans. She married Emile E. Shepherd. He preceded her in death in 1981. She was also preceded in death by her parents, seven sisters and two brothers. Evalyn is survived by her daughter, Marjory and her husband Charles Rubinfeld of Temple City, CA and two grandchildren, Mark and Amy. She had lived in Abingdon since the age of three and moved to the Kensington on August 1, 2006. She graduated from Abingdon High School. She worked at the following sewing & garment companies, the Blue Bell in Abingdon, Protexall Company and Gross Manufacturing both in Galesburg retiring in 1981. She was a member of the Abingdon Christian Church. Graveside service will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, north of Galesburg. Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Memorials in honor of Evalyn may be made to the Abingdon Christian Church, 409 S. Main St. Abingdon, IL 61410 or John Mosser Public Library, 106 W. Meek St. Abingdon, IL 61410.
