Floyd Lenz Obituary

92 of Galesburg and formerly of Knoxville died at 6:01 pm Saturday, March 8, 2008 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg. He was born on October 23, 1915 in Hermon, IL to Lester R. and Ethel Jones Lenz. He married Alda Beer on February 26, 1938. He later married Evelyn M. Baillie on July 23, 1963 in Petersburg, IL. She preceded him in death on June 2, 2001. Floyd is survived by two sons, LeRoy (Susie) Lenz of Delong and Roger (Bobbie ) Lenz of Galesburg; two stepchildren, Diann Barker and Donald Baillie both of Virginia Beach, VA; 10 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 4 step great grandchildren, 17 great-great grandchildren; a brother, Dale (Martha) Lenz of Galesburg; a sister, Evelyn Danforth of Galesburg. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, Roberta and Patricia, a granddaughter, Roberta and a sister, Hazel Zuck. Floyd graduated from Abingdon High School in 1935. He worked for 28 years at Admiral Corp. in Galesburg and also farmed in the Abingdon area, retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Knoxville First United Methodist Church. He was a member and past president of the Knoxville Kiwanis Club, which he joined in 1974. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am Friday, March 14, 2008 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday at the chapel. Memorials may be made to the Knoxville First United Methodist Church.
