Frances B. Gordon

of Abingdon died at 4:21 pm Saturday, March 3, 2007 at Rosewood Care Center in Galesburg.. She was born near Avon, IL and was the youngest daughter of Ross and Pearl Sailer Buchen. She was married to John S. "Jack" Gordon who preceded her in death. A brother, Bob Buchen and a sister, Gale Gallehue and a great nephew also preceded her in death. Surviving is one nephew, Barry (and his wife, Sheri) Buchen of Abingdon, who was raised in her home; two nieces, Jill (and husband, Sam) Schneider of Champaign and Judy Gummersheimer of St. Louis MO; three great nephews including Brad (and his wife, Angie) Buchen of Galesburg and Brett (and his wife, Brooke) Buchen of Coal Valley, IL; two great nieces; 6 great-great nieces and nephews. She graduated from Avon High School and was a dental assistant for Dr. John S. Gordon in Avon for ten years. She also worked as a receptionist and billing clerk at Vaughn & Bushnell Manufacturing Company in Bushnell for thirty years before retiring. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Abingdon. Rev. William Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 10:30 am Wednesday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Bushnell or a charity of the donor's choice.
