79, of 833 Olive St., Galesburg, IL, formerly of rural Abingdon, IL died at 12:30 PM Monday March 14, 2005 at his home. He was born May 13, 1925 in Cameron, IL the son of James F. and Faye Folger Danforth. He married Connie Simkins in Galesburg, IL on May 21, 1949. She survives in Galesburg, IL. Also surviving is one son, Robert J. "Jim" (wife Sara) Miner of Abingdon, IL, one daughter, Beverly Danforth of Galesburg, IL, one brother, Joseph E. (wife Helen) Danforth of Galesburg, IL, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. He served in Army for 18 months in the Hawaiin Islands as SGT. He farmed in rural Abingdon, IL for 20 years. He worked for Amoco Fertilizer Plant in Galesburg for 10 years, retiring in 1982. He lived in Cameron, IL and rural Abingdon most his life. He was a charter member of the Abingdon Auxillary Police. He was treasurer of the Abingdon Fall Festival Days for several years. He was a member of the Abingdon American Legion Post 381. Graveside services are scheduled for 1:30 PM Wednesday March 16, 2005 in Abingdon Cemetery. Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Visitation will be 11:30-1:00 PM Wednesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel without the family present. Memorials can be made to the Abingdon Fall Festival.
