Freda Cameron Obituary

88 of 509 S. Western Ave. died at 5:55 pm Monday, April 2, 2007 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital ER. She was born on February 1, 1919 in Deerfield Township, Fulton County, Il to Vernice and Nettie Sauerwein Harr. She married Kenneth D. Cameron on June 17, 1935 in Ft. Madison, IA. He preceded her in death on March 6, 2001. She was also preceded in death by a son, Gary Cameron, two brothers and four sisters. Surviving are two sons, Kenneth E. (and Dorothy) Cameron of Nevada, MO and Ronald Cameron of Abingdon; 4 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; one brother, Carroll (and Florence) Harr of DuQuoin, IL; three sisters, Vivian Kauzlarich and Eva Bull both of Canton and Kathryn Faye (and Robert) Strode of Fairview. She had lived in Abingdon since 1969 and worked at Hi-Lo Grocery until retiring in 1980. Prior to that she had lived near Fairview and worked at the former Benner Food Store in Canton. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Abingdon. She made Christmas ornaments and did ceramic painting. She and her husband also made yard decorations. She enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and word searches. Funeral service will be at 1:30 pm Saturday, April 7, 2007 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Rev. M. Annette Faull and Rev. Warren Cummins will officiate. Burial will be in Wiley Cemetery, RR Ellisville. Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 pm Saturday at the chapel. Memorials may be made to First Congregational United Church of Christ.
