G. Wright Obituary

79 of Abingdon died at 3:10 pm Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at home. He was born on November 30, 1928 at Youngstown, IL to George A. and Olive E. Lauver Wright. He married Natalie J. Smith on June 6, 1947 in Bushnell, IL. She survives. Dewey is also survived by his children, Carol L. (and Mike) Holliday of Abingdon, Joyce (and Tony) Dawson of Avon, David (and Jackie) Wright of Abingdon and John (and Janet) Wright of Abingdon; his five grandchildren, Heather Dawson, Heidi Dawson-Rhea, Hope Dawson, Corey Dawson and Michelle Holliday; his three great grandchildren, Spencer Dawson, Shane Coleman and Sam Holliday; and a sister, Mabel (Bob) Thompson of Bushnell, IL. Dewey also had an "adopted son and daughter", Fred (and the late Rita) Andrews, who spent a lot of time with Dewey and Natalie. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Nola Wallis and Frances Haas. He attended school in Youngstown. He worked at the American Sanitary Company in Abingdon for 22 years and later was the Sexton at the Abingdon Cemetery for 16 years retiring in 1991. Dewey loved his garden and taking "Road Trips" and enjoyed his John Deere lawn tractor. He was a member of the Abingdon Christian Church. Funeral service will be at 10:00 am Saturday, September 6, 2008 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Rev. Jerald Hill and Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday at the chapel. Memorials may be made to the Abingdon Cemetery Beautification Fund or the Abingdon Christian Church.
