George William "Bill" Boyd

Stuart, FL formerly of Abingdon died June 18, 2005 at his home. He was born May 23, 1943 in Bushnell, IL, the son of Edward S. and Helen Morss Boyd. He married Cynthia Jo Glover on February 12, 1989. Surviving are his wife; one son, Danaan William Boyd at home; three brothers, Jerry (and wife Deanna) Boyd of Little Swan Lake, Avon, IL, James (and wife Dorie) Boyd of Galesburg, IL and Michael (and wife Penny) Boyd of Abingdon, IL; his stepfather, Francis Ross of Abingdon, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Larry Edward Boyd. He graduated from Abingdon High School with the class of 1961. He participated in band, chorus, football, basketball and track. He also graduated from Western Illinois University at Macomb, IL with a degree in Political Science. He was an avid golfer. After college he worked as the director of Henry County, IL Youth Services Bureau for several years before moving to Florida. He attended Lake City Community College in Florida where he studied Golf Course Operations. At the time of his retirement, he was the superintendent of Pine Crest Country Club Golf Course in Largo, FL. He served in the US Navy attaining the rank of Lt. Junior Grade. He was of the Methodist faith. Memorial services were held in Florida. Cremation rites were accorded. Cards may be sent to Cindy and Danaan Boyd, 4322 Chesapeake Bay, Stuart, FL 34997.
