Gerald Simpson Obituary

68, of 205 E. Snyder St., died at 3:50 pm Saturday, March 13, 2004 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital. He was born on December 3, 1935 in Abingdon to Merle and Irma Kilpatrick Simpson. He married Jean Cisco on April 27, 1973 in Abingdon. She preceded him in death on March 21, 1996. Surviving are a step daughter, Donna (and Jim) Huffaker of Mt. Pleasant, IA; four sisters, Carmen Thrasher, Carol (and Robert) Lewis, Cleta Boydstun and Joyce (and Bob) Fishel all of Abingdon; four brothers, Terry (and Jan) Simpson and Ed (and Marsha) Simpson of Abingdon, Gene (and Viola) Simpson of Oquawka, Bill Simpson of Vancouver, WA; 3 step grandchildren and 1 step great-grandson; several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Roger Simpson and one sister, Waneta Quinn. He was raised in Abingdon and attended Abingdon schools. He was a veteran of the US Air Force. He was a construction worker with Local 538 in Galesburg for several years. He was a member of the Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381 and was a member of the Masonic Lodge #185 both in Abingdon. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am Wednesday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial will be in the Abingdon cemetery where Military Rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #381. Friends may call from 6:00 é
