, 80, 303 W. Sanitary Road, died at 8:12 am Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at the Care Center of Abingdon. He was born Oct. 28, 1922 in McDonough County to Clifford and Bessie McCarty Thrasher. He married Carmen Simpson on Dec. 8, 1945 in Abingdon. She survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Glenda (Jim) Ralston of Avon; two sisters, Maxine Collins and Opal Burton both of Abingdon; two grandsons, one step granddaughter, four great grandchildren, three step great grandchildren, one great great grandson; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. He attended school in Prairie City. He served in the United States Army Air Corps and was a WW II Veteran. He had lived in Abingdon most of his life. He worked as a leadman-assembler at Maytag Corp. in Galesburg for 37 years retiring in 1989. He was a member of Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381 in Abingdon. Graveside service will be at 1:00 pm Thursday at Abingdon Cemtery with Eleanor Landon officiating. Military rites will also be conducted by Legion Post #381. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381.
