76 of Abingdon, died at 11:20 am Thursday, May 11, 2006 at his home. He was born on July 4, 1929 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital to Otis and Lela Rykerd Ray. He married Carolyn Marie Dunham on July 22, 1956 in Plymouth, IL. She survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Gwendolyn Lee (and Roy) Rogers of Grapevine, TX; three sons, Garold Lynn (and Jean) Ray of Macomb, Geoffrey Otis (and Karen) Ray of Champaign and Gregory Edward Ray of Bloomington; seven grandchildren, Shawn (and Erin) Rogers, Kyle Rogers, Jessica Ray, Henry Ray, Michelle Ray, Allyson Ray and Edward Ray. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Maurine Ray. He was raised in the Berwick and graduated from Avon High School in 1946. He farmed near Berwick and also worked at Gates Rubber Company where he was selected to do and did Time Study for the Union for a number of years. He retired from Gates Rubber Company in 1995. He was a devoted Father and was present at most every activity of each of his children. He was an avid Cardinal baseball fan and a fan of any team playing the Cubs. He loved to watch the University of Illinois football and basketball teams as well as professional football. He was a former member of the Abingdon Kiwanis Club. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am Monday, May 15, 2006 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 é
