Harold Thompson Obituary

69 of 505 Sunset Court, Abingdon, IL died at 2:02 am Friday, August 25, 2006 at his home. He was born February 1, 1937, the 8th of twelve children born to John and Alice Sprague Thompson. He married Gloria Phillips on July 29, 1963 in Bedford, Iowa. She survives. Also surviving are one son, Jerry Thompson of Bussey, IA; three daughters, Natasha Thompson of Chandler, AZ, Linda Morgan of Zebulon, GA and Tondi (and Bill) Hunter of Smithshire, IL; two brothers, Luther "Bud" Thompson of Des Moines, IA and Kenneth "Jug" (and Fran) Thompson of Omaha, NE; two sisters, Pat Wiand of Ralston, NE and Connie (and Dennis) Travis of Dennison, IA; five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and five brothers. He worked as a conductor for BNSF Railroad for 30 years retiring on February 1, 1999. He had lived in Corning, IA, Afton, IA, and Ottumwa, IA for 20 years and in Abingdon, IL since 1985. He served in the US Army for three years and was stationed in Germany. His enjoyed watching all sports, especially football, history, reading, camping in his motor home and attending country music concerts. Cremation will be accorded. A memorial visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Monday, August 28, 2006 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel, 206 N. Washington St. Abingdon, IL. with a flag presentation at 8:00 pm by Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381. Memorials may be made to Community Hospices of America, 1640 N. Henderson St. Galesburg, IL 61401.
