84, 608 S. Main St. died at 2:55 pm Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center ER. He was born January 25, 1921 in Toulon, IL to Melvin and Laura Sanders Miner. He married Irene Ann Sokolowski on October 14, 1949 in Abingdon. She preceded him in death on March 22, 2004. Surviving are four sons, Gene Miner and Bill Miner both of Abingdon, Marion (and Sue) Miner of Champaign and Timothy (and Karen) Miner of Galesburg; four daughters, Linda (and Raymond) Buckus and Christine Miner, all of Champaign, Ronna Freed of Savoy, IL and Janice Miner of Galesburg; 7 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; three sisters, Mavis Parkins of Berwick, Marilena Dickerson of Salem, OR and Garcia Denisar of Joplin, MO; a sister-in-law, Wilma Miner of Virginia, IL. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Leo Miner. He served in the US Army during WW II and was a Purple Heart recipient. He had lived in the Abingdon area most of his life. He was a self employed welder and a truck driver for area farmers and VSM Trucking. Services will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Rev. Melody Andrews and Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381. Visitation will be from 6:00 é
