Harry Rouse Obituary

87, a resident of the Care Center of Abingdon the past two years and formerly of rural Galesburg died at 7:00 pm Sunday, December 31, 2006 at the Care Center of Abingdon. He was born on May 26, 1919 near Ellisville, IL to Louis M. and Bessie Douglas Rouse. He married Frances M. Smith on Friday the 13th, October 13, 1944 in Galesburg. She survives. Also surviving is one daughter, Jane (and David) Wooten of Redmond, WA; two grandchildren, David (and wife, Jihyung Yang) Wooten, Jr. of Springfield, IL and Karen (and husband, Sean Burke) Wooten of San Diego, CA; one sister, Joanna (and husband, Russell) Smith of Bushnell. He was adopted by Ellis W. Johnson, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother, Dale Rouse, three sisters, Gladys Rouse, Edna Ludwig and Isabelle Rouse. He served in the Army during WW II. He was a member of Bushnell American Legion Post #2004. He worked at Butler Manufacturing in Galesburg for 35 years retiring in 1979. He attended Faith United Methodist Church in Galesburg. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He loved children and animals. Graveside service will be at 1:30 pm Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Galesburg. Rev. Paul D. Newhall will officiate. Visitation will be from noon until 1:00 pm Wednesday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Memorials may be made to Care Center of Abingdon Resident Activity Fund or the Faith United Methodist Church.
