., 82 of Galesburg, formerly of Abingdon, died at 10:53 pm Saturday, April 9, 2005 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg. He was born November 14, 1922 in Quincy to Harvey and Mildred Lytle Reese, Sr. He married Carolyn Jean Hannant in 1946 in Pike County. He later married Kathryn "Kate" Dredge Burroughs on July 13, 1963 in Jacksonville. She preceded him in death on February 7, 2005. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard Reese. Surviving are three sons, Steven (and Cathryn) Reese of Altona, Michael (and Anita) Reese of Galena and Duane Reese of Houston, TX; two daughters, Connie (and Raymond) Morris of Keosauqua, IA and Lynette (and Charles) Sneddon of Springfield, MO; one brother, Roger (and Evelyn) Reese of Griggsville; 16 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He had lived in Perry, Quincy, Flora, Abingdon and Galesburg. he graduated from high school in Perry in 1941 and later from Illinois State University. He served in the US Navy for three years as a petty officer in the southwest Pacific and later served in the Naval Reserves. He worked as an assistant supervisor for the Farmers Home Administration in the Schuyler County and Galesburg offices for twenty years. He then worked at Admirals (Maytag Co.) in Galesburg for thirteen years and then worked as an appraiser for Federal Land Bank. He was also an independent appraiser for many years. He was a member of the Abingdon Christian Church. He was a member and past president of the Abingdon Kiwanis Club, member and past president of the Knox County Artist Guild, a member of the Knox County Literary Coalition and was a lifetime member of the American Legion. Services will be 11:00 am Wednesday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Rev. Raymond McLaren will officiate. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Tuesday at the chapel. Memorials may be made to John Mosser Public Library in Abingdon.
