Helen L. Haynes

78 of 1857 Washington St., Galesburg, IL died at 9:20 AM Tuesday February 28, 2006 in Marigold Health Care Center. She was born July 20, 1927 in Herman, IL the daughter of Raymond and Mary Combs Lankford. She married Berwyn L. Haynes. She is survived by two sons, David (wife Sarah) Haynes of Canton, IL and Roger Haynes of Galesburg, two daughters, Peggy Kilpatrick of Galesburg and Kay Haynes of Galesburg, and two grandchildren, Jennifer and William Haynes, both of Canton. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one sister. She worked as a seamstress for Custom Classics in Abingdon, IL, retiring in November 1997. She also worked for the former Gale Products Division of Outboard Marine Corporation in Galesburg. She lived in Avon, IL before moving to Galesburg. She was a former member of the Abingdon Christian Church. She enjoyed sports, including the Cubs and the Bears. She also enjoyed watching the Monmouth College Track Team, where her son coached. Graveside services are scheduled for 11:30 AM Thursday in the Abingdon Cemetery, Abingdon, IL. Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorials can be made to Monmouth College c/o the Development Office. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
