79 of 608 S. Main St. died at 2:10 pm Monday, March 22, 2004 at the Care Center of Abingdon. She was born March 24, 1924 in LaGrange, NY to Joseph and Louise Turowski Sokolowski. She married Harris, "Red" Miner on October 14, 1949 in Abingdon. He survives. Also surviving are four sons, Gene & Bill both of Abingdon, Timothy (and Karen) Miner of Galesburg and Marion (and Sue) Miner of Champaign, IL; four daughters, Janice Miner of Galesburg, Ronna Freed, Christine Miner and Linda (and Raymond) Buckus all of Champaign; 6 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and 1 adopted grandchild; two brothers, Leonard (and Helen) Sokolowski and Joseph (and Joyce) Sokolowski both in New York; two sisters, Millie (and Lloyd) Roberts of Salem, Arkansas and Connie (and Gene) Lahey of New York. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Harry & John, two sisters, Josephine and Frances. She had lived in abingdon the past 60 years. She worked at the former Blue Bell Mfg. and at Knox Laundry in Galesburg. She was a homemaker and was a babysitter for several area families. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am Saturday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon. Eleanor Landon and Rev. Melody Andrews will officiate. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday at the chapel.
