Irene Morris

81 of RR Berwick, died at 10:25 pm Thursday, November 4, 2004 at Seminary Manor Nursing Center in Galesburg. She was born on July 6, 1923 in Indian Point Township, Knox County to John and Minnie Dawdy Schisler. She married Tom J. Sawyer in January of 1945. He preceded her in death on August 24, 1960. She then married Robert K. Morris on December 16, 1961 in Berwick. He survives. Also surviving are three sons, Tom (and Linda) Sawyer of Avon, Rodney (and Nancy) Sawyer of Eagle River, Alaska and Richard (and Rita) Sawyer of Cameron; three daughters, Cindy Tinker and Sharon (and Mark) Harman of Peoria and Joyce (and Rudy) Carlson of Brimfield; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister. She had lived in the Abingdon and Berwick areas all her life. She graduated from Abingdon High School in 1941 and was a member of the Half Century Alumni. She was a homemaker and helped her husband with the bookkeeping for Berwick Township for several years. She was a member of the Berwick Baptist Church, where she formerly taught Sunday school and was a song leader. Services will be at 11:00 am Monday at the Berwick Baptist Church in Berwick. Rev. Melody Andrews will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb. The family will receive friends one hour before the service on Monday at the church. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to her church.
