Isiah Lamont "Zeke" Cunningham

Isiah Lamont “Zeke” Cunningham, 32, of Scottsdale, Arizona formerly of Galesburg, Illinois passed away at 12:15 PM Wednesday, August 31, 2022, in Honor Health Shea Medical Center Scottsdale following a brief illness.

Zeke was born June 19, 1990, in Galesburg the son of Curtis O. and Sheila R. (Miller) Cunningham, Sr.

He is survived by his father, Curtis O. (Donna) Cunningham and his mother, Sheila R. Cunningham both of Galesburg; his sister, Shakee’ Cunningham of Galesburg; his grandmother, Dorothy Dickerson of Conway, Arkansas; his grandfather, Johnny Davis of Galesburg and four nephews, Jaron, Jr., O’Bryant, Cassius and Ermias Jackson and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his brother Curtis Jr. and his grandmother, Ola Mae Cunningham.

Zeke graduated from Galesburg High School in 2008. He studied criminal justice at Carl Sandburg College and earned his bachelor’s in criminal justice from Grandview College in Des Moines, Iowa. Zeke worked as a sales associate for the Nike Factory in West Des Moines for three years. He later worked as a manager for Mattress Firm in Des Moines and transferred with Mattress Firm in Scottsdale. Zeke was currently working in the Scottsdale School district as a teacher’s aide in the special education department. He attended the Second Baptist Church and the Lighthouse Baptist Church.

 Zeke had a love for all sports, playing basketball for Galesburg Silver Streaks, Carl Sandburg College and for Grandview College. He was an avid Kobe Bryant and Lakers fan. He enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and the New York Yankees and admired Ken Griffey, Jr. In football he routed for the Chicago Bears. Zeke was a kind-hearted soul, he loved to listen to music and was in the process of writing a movie script.  He is loved and will be missed by all of his large extended family.

 Funeral Services are scheduled for Noon, Friday, September 16, 2022, at the First Baptist Church, 169 S. Cherry Street, Galesburg. The Rev. Tyson Parks III will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00-Noon, Friday at the church. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family to establish a memorial fund at a later date.
