Jack Patch Obituary

78, a resident of the Care Center of Abingdon died at 3:30 pm Thursday, March 5, 2009 at the Care Center of Abingdon. He was born on September 20, 1930 in Galesburg to Leslie and Eunice (Sherwood) Patch. He married Dolly Poulson on April 12, 1954 in Galesburg. Dolly preceded him in death on September 21, 2006. He was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Jack is survived by his children, Jack D. Patch, Jr. of Avon, IL, Michael L. Patch of St. Augustine, IL, John (and Rebecca) Patch of Ashdown, AR, and Teresa (and Michael) Ward of Abingdon; 11 grandchildren and12 great grandchildren. He grew up and attended schools in Colorado. He joined the Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He lived most of his adult life in Abingdon and worked at the former OMC Gale Products in Galesburg, retiring in 1974. He later had lived near Prairie City prior to moving to the Care Center of Abingdon. Jack's main hobby was wood working and he was very dedicated to it. Graveside service with military rites by Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381 will be at 2:00 pm Sunday, March 8, 2009 at the Wataga Cemetery. Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements. The family would like to thank the Care Center of Abingdon and staff and OSF Hospice for the wonderful care Jack received. Memorials may be made to OSF Hospice.
