James Hollingsworth Obituary

Mr. James Martin “Jim” Hollingsworth, 68, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 10:39 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2024, at his home.

He was born September 3, 1955, in Galesburg to Jerry and Alice (Parsons) Hollingsworth. 

Surviving are three sisters, Julie (and Ron) Morris of Galesburg, Jeanie (and the late Rick) Wilson of Carterville, Illinois, and Joni (and Bob) Kroeger of Centralia, Illinois, ten nieces and nephews, 18 great nieces and nephews, and many cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Alice Hollingsworth, grandparents, Carl and Mamie Hollingsworth, and Virgil and Maude Magnuson, and a sister, Jane Phillips. 

Jim was raised in Galesburg until 1969 when his family moved to Petersburg, Illinois.  He graduated in 1973 from PORTA High School in Petersburg.  He worked alongside his father as a carpenter for over 30 years.  Jim played the bass in several country bands throughout the years.  He enjoyed playing golf and was active years ago in the Galesburg Archery Club.  Jim also enjoyed listening to music, watching old movies, and attending family gatherings. 

Cremation will be accorded.  A private family graveside service in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg will be at a later date.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences may be made at
