Jaxson B. Fortune

Precious Baby Jaxson B. Fortune, three weeks old, the son of Jared P. Fortune and Meredith Jones passed away at 8:06 am Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center Galesburg.

Jaxson was born October 14, 2022, in Peoria, Illinois. Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Jared and Meredith of Galesburg; his maternal grandparents, Kevin and Shelby Jones of Abingdon, Illinois; maternal great grandmother, Jayne Jones of Abingdon; his paternal grandparents, Patrick and Patricia Norris of Bettendorf, Iowa and Gary and Jeanine Lew of Jefferson, Wisconsin; paternal great grandmother, Beverly Fortune of Geneseo, Illinois. Also surviving are a host of aunts and uncles including Devin and Katie DeJaynes of Galesburg, Nora and Dan Verzaal of Bettendorf, Travis and Amanda Ruff of Dubuque, Iowa, Erik Fortune of Fulton, Illinois, Kent Howard of Jefferson, Wisconsin, great aunts and uncles, Kent and Leslie Jones of Abingdon, Kari Jones of Oklahoma, Tony Dennis of Phoenix Arizona, Tom and Eryn McCulloch of Spokane, Washington, Kelly Dennis of Charlotte, North Carolina and great great aunt and uncle, Wayne and Barb Dennis of Galesburg and Eddy and  Lisa Calvert of Spotsville, Kentucky and Barb Zinn of Fort Wayne, Indiana. He is preceded in death by his maternal great grandparents, Mark Dennis and Connie Dennis; great grandfather, Mike Jones; great great grandmother, Margaret Thurman and great great grandparents, Wayne and Wyllodeane Dennis; his paternal great grandparents, Raymond Fortune, Genia White and Kenneth Lehrman; and his great great uncle, Father Denis White and great great aunt Kay Busch.

Jaxson was the light of his family’s eyes, a true gift from God. He was a happy baby always smiling. Jaxson was baptized by Father Deus.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:30 pm Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Jim Shannon will officiate. There will be no visitation. The burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the family. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com
