Jim L. Peckerhead DeJaynes

63 of Abingdon died at 3:08 am Friday, September 21, 2007 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg. He was born on September 12, 1944 in Galesburg to Orville and Geraldine Curtis DeJaynes. Jim is survived by a daughter, Jamie Ray of Gulfport, MS; a son, James M. (and Marcia) DeJaynes of Albuquerque, NM; 6 grand-children and 1 great grandchild; two brothers, Ronnie DeJaynes of Abingdon and Bill (and Jackie) DeJaynes of Abingdon; a sister, Virginia (and Mike) Castle of St. Augustine. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Cody Ray. Jim was a lifelong Abingdon resident. He graduated from Abingdon High School. He later graduated from the Omaha Trade School of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. He worked as a plumber. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan and a Green Bay Packer Football fan. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, was an avid hunter and fisherman and especially enjoyed rabbit hunting with his beagles. He also enjoyed mushrooming and being a good washer thrower. He was a member of the Sons of American Legion at the Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381 and was a past volunteer fireman for over 20 years for the Abingdon Fire Protection District. Funeral service will be 10:00 am Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Monday at the chapel. Cremation will be accorded following the funeral service. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established.
