Joan Josefson

80, 974 Illinois Route 41, Galesburg, died at 10:05 pm Saturday, March 15, 2003 at the Care Center of Abingdon. She was born October 18, 1922 in Warren County near Cameron to Glen and Mary Rhykerd McClure. She married Eugene M. Josefson on April 3, 1943 in Oceanside, California. He preceded her in death on February 8, 1995. Surviving are two sons, Steve (and Carol) Josefson of Rural Galesburg and Dan (and Susan) Josefson of Harlan, Iowa; one brother, Frank (and Frances) McClure of Galesburg; one sister, Isabel Wier of Denver, CO.; six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter, three sisters and one brother. She had lived in the Cameron, Abingdon and Galesburg areas all her life. She graduated from Galesburg High School and was a member of the National Honor Society. She attended Nursing School at Galesburg Cottage Hospital. She worked as a telephone operator and later worked at the former Skirvins Gift Shop in Galesburg. She was a member of Abingdon Christian Church and a member of Loyal Workers Neighborhood Club for many years. She was a volunteer at Galesburg Cottage Hospital in the therapy department. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am Wednesday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon with Rev. Raymond McLaren officiating. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery.
