Joan Peck Obituary

Joan “Jo” Elizabeth Peck, 96, of Galesburg, died at 1:43 p.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at her assisted living home in Galesburg.

Joan was born September 27, 1924, in Danvers, to Valentine and Fannie (Augspurger) Kohler. She married Maurice Peck on January 26, 1946, in Galesburg. Maurice preceded her in death on September 12, 1986.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Barb Peck; her stepdaughter, Bonnie Westbay of Knoxville; her grandchildren, Laura (Chris) Oestreicher of Galesburg, Gina (Orlee) Lucero of Galesburg, and Mike Peck of Round Rock, Texas; and several great and great-great grandchildren who she loved very much.  She is preceded in death by her two brothers and sisters, and her son, Patrick Peck.

Joan worked as a secretary at Faith Methodist Church for 12 years and AG Edwards for seven years and had served as trust officer for F&M Bank for 18 years. Joan was an avid member of her church’s quilting club where she would go almost every week on just to spend time with her quilting friends. She was also a very proud member of the First Presbyterian church in Galesburg where she had married Maurice in 1946.

Cremation will be accorded with a service to follow in the spring.  As per her request memorials may be made in her name to the First Presbyterian Church, 101 N Prairie St, Galesburg, IL 61401 where she was married in 1946 and was a member for 75 years.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel is honored to serve the family.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
