John White Obituary

85 of RR Abingdon died at 5:05 pm Friday, March 21, 2008 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital. He was born on May 14, 1922 in Morgan County, IL to George Martin and Mary Ann Ridder White. He married Anita Moon on June 19, 1954 at Corpus Christi Church in Galesburg. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mary (and Scott) Brownfield and Gerry (and Kelvin) Lumberry; a son, Robert P. White and six grandchildren. John served in the Army during WW II. He was a member of Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381 in Abingdon. He was a lifetime farmer and had lived in the Alexander, Waverly and Abingdon areas. He was a former 4-H leader and was a salesman for Crow Seed Corn. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:00 am Monday, March 24, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Abingdon. Father William Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8:00 am to 8:45 am Monday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
