93, of 102 Harshbarger St., Abingdon, IL died at 9:00 PM Friday, January 2, 2004 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital. He was born June 27, 1910 near Shawnee, OK the son of George E. and Caldonia E. Prine Baker. He married Nora E. Sharp in Jonesboro, AR on May 9, 1942. She survives. Also survives are two sons; Jerry (and Michelle) Baker of Abingdon, IL and Charles "Bob" (and Janet) Baker of Cumberland, WI, two daughters; JoAnn Baker of Thousand Oaks, CA and Marsha (and Ric) Wixforth of Galesburg, IL, a sister; Iva Smith of Galesburg, IL, seven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two half brothers, four step brothers, and three half sisters. He worked in the Mold Department of Briggs Manufacturing for 33 years, retiring in August of 1973. He lived in Cash, AR before moving to the Herman and Abingdon area in 1942. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Avon, IL. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel with Rev. Ed Wislander officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Tuesday at the Chapel. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church of Avon or to the Avon Nursing Home.
