Juanita L. Rice

84 of Delong, IL died at 6:29 pm Sunday, June 8, 2008 at the Care Center of Abingdon in Abingdon, IL. She was born on February 7, 1924 in Boone, Iowa, a daughter of Alvia and Agnes Elizabeth Peel Rector. She married Dan D. Rice in 1942 in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death in 1980. Juanita is survived by a daughter, Celia "Cee" (and Tom) Sloan of Delong, IL; a son, David Rice of Gainesville, FL; three grandchildren, Dana, Shad and Lianna; six great grandchildren, Dalton, Addie, Grey, Logan, Lane and Ally; a brother, Darrell Rector of Davenport, IA. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Viola Schneckloth. Juanita attended and graduated from the Vinton Iowa School for the Blind. She was a homemaker and helped her husband farm near New London, Iowa. She had lived in Delong since 1998. She was of the Methodist Faith. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel, 206 N. Washington St., Abingdon, IL with a prayer service at 7:00 pm led by Mrs. Eleanor Landon. Graveside service will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at the Burge Cemetery in New London, IA. Memorials may be made to OSF Hospice.
