Katheryn Louise Gard

84 of 106 N. Washington St., died at 6:34 pm Sunday, May 6, 2007 at Seminary Manor in Galesburg. She was born on June 27, 1922 in Galesburg to Leslie and Marion Johnson Wasson. She married Paul W. Gard on January 16, 1943 in Chicago. He preceded her in death on July 18, 1983. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Surviving is a son Paul W. (and Tommie Ann) Gard, Jr. of Westminster, CO and three nieces. She grew up in Galesburg and graduated from Galesburg High School in 1940. She attended Brown's Business College in Galesburg for a year. She worked as a professional secretary to the district manager of JC Penney Company in Denver, CO from 1972 until retiring in 1987. She has lived in Abingdon since 1989. She was of the Disciples of Christ faith. Graveside service will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at Linwood Cemetery in Galesburg. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Monday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
