Keisha Harris Obituary

On Sunday October 10, 2021, the Diva that we know and love, Keisha Royshawn Harris entered the gates of Heaven fully accessorized, ready for her next adventure.

Born September 22, 1972, in Galesburg the daughter of Leroy E. and Mildred F. (Basley) Harris, Keisha lived a full 49 years.

Left to cherish her memories are her parents, Roy and Mildred Harris of Galesburg; her brothers, Kyle Harris of Galesburg and Kristopher (Emily) Harris of Kansas City, Missouri; her fiancé, Jordan Mc Donald of Galesburg; her niece and nephews, Austin C. Biagioni Harris, Lyric A. Harris, Kingston C. Harris and Isaac J. Harris; three aunts, two uncles; many cousins; her Hate Squad, her Boos and many many close friends. She was preceded in death by her younger sister, Kari, her paternal and maternal grandparents, three aunts and two uncles.

Keisha attended Costa Catholic Academy and graduated from Galesburg High School in 1990. She attended Carl Sandburg College and Black Hawk College studying cosmetology and massage therapy. She began working for the East Main McDonald’s, then Giants Grocery store, the Maytag Corporation, Aldi’s and later Medical Surgical Specialist for Dr. McClean and Dr. Patterson.

For the last eight years, Keisha has worked as a secretary for Lombard Jr. High School. To her students she was more than the secretary but more of a confidant and positive role model. Her selfless and caring demeanor was witnessed by the whole community. She gave faithfully to the Lombard Jr. High Angel Tree and their Blessing Box. Keisha volunteered with Run Galesburg Run for many years presenting medals to runners at the finish line.

Keisha was a fashion icon, blessed with the ability to dress up and accessorize any outfit. She had the best wardrobe at Lombard for spirit week and any holiday she deemed to fit dress up. She captured every moment she could with photographs, claiming she never took a bad picture. Keisha gave the most thoughtful gifts, usually created by photos of her friends Facebook page. She had a love for Justin Timberlake, Zac Efron, Prince and Whitney Houston.

Through the difficult times of her health and towards the end of her beautiful life here on earth, Keisha would make it her top priority to attend, support, and cheer on her friends and family at any event that took place. Her beautiful and contagious smile could light up the room and you always knew that Keisha had an unconditional love for anyone that came into her life.
