Kenneth Leon Reed

Mr. Kenneth Leon Reed, 88, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away peacefully at 5:08 am Friday, September 9, 2022, with his loving family by his side.

 Ken was born June 4, 1934, in Macomb, Illinois the son of Austin Earl and Mary Ann (Kutcher) Reed. He married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Cox on August 30, 1953, in Macomb, Illinois and was married 63 years before her passing in 2016.

Ken is survived by his two daughters, Debbie (Tim) Pico of Champaign, Illinois and Beth (Anthony) Trisilla of Galesburg; four granddaughters, Amy Pico of Freeport, FL; Angela (Michael) Roberts of Watersound, FL; Natalie (Joel Meister) Trisilla of Vienna, VA and Nina (Hani Wadi) Trisilla Wadi of Peoria, IL; and two great grandsons  Lincoln Meister, Liam Wadi, a great grandson arriving in November 2022, and one great granddaughter, Evelyn Meister. Ken is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Richard and Jack Reed and a sister, Alice Snowden.

Ken graduated from Macomb High School and later Brown’s Business College in Galesburg. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955, spending 16 months in Korea. Ken was raised on a farm in Macomb and made a home in Galesburg. He worked as an investigator with Equifax for over 30 years, retiring in 1994. After retirement, Ken continued working as an independent contractor well into his 80s.

Ken was an active member of the Harmony Baptist Church, serving on the board and frequently volunteering his time to advance the church’s mission.

Our family mourns the loss of this hardworking, faithful man, but we are comforted knowing he is reunited with his wife in heaven and that we will see him again there. Well done, good and faithful servant.

Visitation is scheduled for 5:00-7:00 pm Friday, September 16, 2022, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Funeral will follow at the chapel at 7:00 pm. Pastor Chris Nissley will officiate. A private family burial service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb with Military Honors. Memorials may be made to the Harmony Baptist Church. Online Condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
