L. June Franklin

85, a resident of the Care Center of Abingdon, died at 4:10 pm Saturday, April 29, 2006 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg. She was born on June 1, 1920 in Abingdon to Harley and Eliza Bozman Stegall. She married Harold Grice. She then married Thomas Perry. She married Ed Purdue. She later married Donald Franklin on Nov. 1, 1969 in Abingdon. He preceded her in death on January 3, 1986. Surviving are three daughters, Sheryl (and Tom) Spencer of Ft. Myers, FL, Vicki (and Dan) Hare of Denver, CO and Valerie (and Bill) Henning of Abingdon; two stepsons, John (and Audrey) Franklin of Galesburg and Keith Franklin of Peoria; two brothers, Ronald (and Patricia Anne) Stegall of Naples, FL and Roger (and Annette) Stegall of Abingdon; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She had lived in Abingdon all her life and graduated from Abingdon High School in 1938. She worked at the former Blue Bell Manufacturing Company and also cleaned houses and did laundry and ironing for several Abingdon families. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Abingdon all of her life. Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Rev. M. Annette Faull and Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service on Wednesday at the chapel. Memorials may be made to the Care Center of Abingdon or the First Congregational United Church of Christ.
