Lawrence E. Toby Cooley

69 of Abingdon, died at 7:55 pm Friday, February 1, 2008 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg. He was born on June 13, 1938 in Galesburg, a son of John Willie and Ruby Kinkade Cooley. He married Luella Powell on November 13, 1985 in Galesburg. She survives. Toby is also survived by a son, Greg Cooley of Abingdon; a sister, Rose Mary (and Thomas) Humphrey of Galesburg and an aunt, Frances Wall of Galesburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant daughters, three sisters and a brother. Toby worked at Wall's Sawmill near Galesburg, was a truck driver and had also worked at Royce Rent-a-Center. He had lived in Abingdon the past ten years. He attended the Church of God of Prophecy in Abingdon. He enjoyed watching television and playing card games. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel with a prayer service at 7:00 pm led by Rev. Warren Cummins. Cremation will be accorded following the prayer service with burial of cremains at a later date.
