79 of RR Cameron died at 9:35 pm Thursday, August 31, 2006 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg. He was born on February 3, 1927 near Alexis to James M. and Carrie F. Meador Hook. He married Alice I. Burnett on October 9, 1953 in Galesburg. She preceded him in death on July 12, 1988. Surviving are six brothers, Herbert Hook of Poplar Bluff, MO, James E. Hook of Abingdon, Robert Hook of Galesburg, John Hook of Gainesville, TX, Jessie Hook of Galesburg and David Hook of West Burlington, IA; four sisters, Eddie Lee Schisler and Donna Gray of Abingdon, Betty Phipps of Galesburg and Anna Homer of Monmouth; a special friend, Mary Blixt of Galesburg and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. He served in the Army during WW II and the Korean Conflict. He was a lifetime member of Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381 in Abingdon. He worked as a caster at the Abingdon Pottery for 35 years. He was an avid Cardinal baseball fan and enjoyed spending time at the riverboat casinos. Graveside service will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at East Linwood Cemetery in Galesburg with military rites by Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Monday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
