, 89, a resident of the Care Center of Abingdon, died at 2:15 pm Tuesday, January 7, 2003 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg. He was born May 30, 1913 in Arcadia, Florida to William "Will" and Cora Locke McMahill. He married Florence Bates Thurman on June 20, 1970 in Abingdon. She preceded him in death on August 12, 2002. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, two half-brothers and one half-sister. Surviving are nieces and nephews including Ivan Zuck and Delbert Zuck both of Galesburg who were his caregivers. He grew up in the Avon and Ellisville areas where he also attended schools. He had lived in Abingdon the past 60 years. He worked at the former Blue Bell Manufacturing Company for 27 years and later at the Abingdon Pottery until his retirement in 1978. He attended the Abingdon United Methodist Church. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am Saturday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon with Rev. Ted Hartley officiating. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before the service on Saturday at the chapel. Memorials may be made to the Abingdon United Methodist Church. Fune
