77 of 714 N. Main St. died at 1:05 am Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg. She was born on February 7, 1927 near Ipava, IL to Carl and Mattie Smith . She married William E. "Bill" Homer on December 28, 1946 in Abingdon. He preceded her in death on July 6, 1996. Surviving are one son, Keith Homer of Abingdon; two daughters, Patti (and Alan) Admire of RR Abingdon and Nancy Homer-Ray (and Eric Olson) of Abingdon; 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; two sisters, Marge Albin of Galesburg and Donna Moore of Peoria; one brother, Loren Smith of Chillicothe and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Carl Smith, Jr. She graduated from Abingdon High School in 1945 and had lived in Abingdon most of her adult life. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ. She worked as an assembler at Maytag in Galesburg retiring in 1989. Services will be at 10:00 am Saturday at the First Congregational United Church of Christ. Rev. M. Annette Faull will officiate. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Friday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon. Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the American Diabetes Association.
