Mabel Edna Johnson

107, of 801 W. Martin St., Abingdon, IL died at 8:35 AM Monday March 21, 2005 in the Care Center of Abingdon. She was born April 27, 1897 in Berwick, IL, the daughter of Thomas J. and Susie Murgatroyd Ray. She married Herman E. Johnson on March 1, 1920 in Berwick, IL. He died in 1977. Survivors include one son, Arlien (wife Marna) Johnson of Abingdon, IL, one daughter-in-law, Sallye Johnson-Wade of Knoxville, IL, one sister, Florence Berg of Avon, IL, formerly of Berwick, IL, several nieces and nephews, three grandchildren, several great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, one daughter, three brothers and three sisters. She farmed near Berwick, IL until moving to Abingdon, IL in 1926. She worked for the former Globe Superior later called the Blue Belle Garment Factory for 32 years. She was a member of the Senior Citizens group in Abingdon and a member of the Harry Wiles American Legion Auxiliary Post #381. She was a member of the Abingdon Christian Church. Graveside services are scheduled for 11:30 AM Wednesday in the Berwick Cemetery, Berwick, IL. Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Visitation will be 9:30-11:00 AM Wednesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Memorials can be made to the Activity Department at the Care Center of Abingdon.
