Margaret W. Scott

84, a resident of the Care Center of Abingdon the past two years, died at 9:55 pm Sunday, June 29, 2003 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg. She was born November 26, 1918 in Poplar Plaines, Kentucky to William and Clara Hurst Jones. She married F. Eugene Scott on November 3, 1947 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He preceded her in death on February 23, 1991. Surviving are one daughter, Christine (and Larry) Lewis of Roscoe, IL; two sons, Donald (and Catherine) Scott of Springfield, IL and Jerry (and Francie) Scott of Lawrenceville, IL; one brother, Jack Jones of Hoffman Estates, IL; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Woody Jones. She lived in the Abingdon area most of her life and graduated from Abingdon High School in 1936. She was a homemaker and was a volunteer for many years at the care center before she was a resident. She was a member of the Abingdon Christian Church. She was also a member of the Northend Club. Services will be at 2:30 pm Wednesday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon with Rev. Raymond McLaren officiating. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before the service on Wednesday at the chapel. Memorials may be made to her church or the Care Center of Abingdon Activity Department.
