Marjorie Reathaford Obituary

88, a resident of the Monmouth Nursing Home, formerly of Abingdon, died at 10:59 am Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006 at the nursing home. She was born April 26, 1917 in Cooperstown, IL to Milton Calvin and Harriet Elizabeth Whited Herren. She married James Clifford Reathaford on Jan. 9, 1935 in Beardstown, IL. They were divorced. She then married James Trulock on Nov. 27, 1972 in Kahokia, MO. He preceded her in death on Nov. 28, 1984. She later remarried James Clifford Reathaford on July 5, 1986 in Dallas City, IL. He preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 1999. Also preceding her in death were two sons, James W. Reathaford (infant)and Gary Lee Reathaford, one stepson, Rich Trulock, six brothers and 4 sisters. Surviving are one daughter, Joan Stringer of Cadiz, KY ; one stepson, Eddie Trulock; a sister-in-law, Alice Marie Menely of Abingdon; 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren and 2 step great-grandchildren. She was raised in Versailles, IL, where she attended school. She had lived in Abingdon most of her life and wintered in McAllen, TX from 1980 until 2000. She worked at the former Gale Products in Galesburg for 26 ½ years retiring on May 31, 1979. She attended the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Abingdon and the Pontoosuc Community Church in Pontoosuc, IL She was a member of the Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381 Auxiliary in Abingdon. Funeral service will be at 1:30 pm Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2006 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 until 7:00 pm Monday at the chapel. Memorials may be made to the Abingdon Historical Society.
