Mary Bond

87, of 608 W. Monmouth St., Abingdon, died at 1:00 pm Monday, February 2, 2004 at the Care Center of Abingdon. She was born on May 15, 1916 in Warren County to Malcolm and Hazel Baer Johnson. She married Frederick James Bond in 1942 in Miami, FL. He preceded her in death on October 2, 1956. Surviving are two sons, Fred (and Julie) Bond, Jr. of Hermosa, CA and Steve Bond of Santa Ana, CA; one daughter, Barbara (and David) Moore of Alhambra, CA; three grandchildren, Ryan Moore, Amelia Bond and Steven Bond. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Carol Cramer and Margaret Benner. She graduated from Abingdon High School in 1934 and later graduated from Western Illinois Teachers College in Macomb. She was a third grade teacher at Abingdon Grade School for 31 years retiring in 1982. She had lived in Miami, FL, Tegucigalpa Honduras, San Jose Costa Rica and moved back to Abingdon in 1957. She was a member of the Berwick Baptist Church and belonged to several area bridge clubs. Services will be at 11:00 am Friday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00 é
